review 1: Sebastian Grey is a gamble, will he be the next earl or will his uncle who is the current earl manage remarry and father a son? Will the ton and society at large find out how Sebastian is making his money? Hint: It's a thread running through the Bridgertons,the Bevelstokes, and the Smythe-Smith books. It's definitely a fun twist.Annabel Winslow is from a large, genteel family in need of a good marriage. She is brought to town and with her cousin, Louisa to make their debuts and make good matches. Annabel is promised to the earl looking for a good breeder, a reluctant match on her part until she meets Sebastian, the nephew possibly in waiting. The couple is charming, the earl is borders on being a rapist in his quest to thwart Sebastian. Annabel's grandmother veers between ... moregood and bad with a few surprising revelations. What about Louisa and Edward for the next round?
review 2: Hmmmmm. Maybe more like 3.5 stars. It lacked the same level of humor the last book possessed. But it's Julia Quinn and she's always a fun read. What I found odd about this series is the amount of alone time couples manage together during the Regency period which is normally very limited. I also wonder why it stopped here. I'd have loved to have seen stories for Edward, Louisa, and Winston. less
