review 1: A charming little book about a charming little village. With a number of story strands and recurring lines of description, this little book left me smiling and the sweet story that it culminates with.Running off at tangents and returning to where it left off is a discourse I'm happy with. Others may not like it, but I was happy to sit for considerable lengths leisurely page turning and it was glorious.I feel like I'd be happy actually reading it again in, say, six months, for the fact that the strands of extra bits of plot are just peppered around that I'll find things that will make me smile that I missed first time around.
review 2: This was an enchanting fluffy read. I've loved Julia Stuart's other works and this was no exception. She paints a quirky village
... more of misfits & I grew to love them one and all thanks the descriptions of their habits, pet peeves and personal secrets/shortcomings. I enjoyed the repetitive phrasing "supermarket sandals" "memorial to the Three Victims of the Barbarous Germans" etc. I'd recommend this book to anyone who enjoys the Aunt Dimity Series, Chocolat or Peter Mayle it's an amalgamation of all three. Perfect vacation or starvation read, light but still touches on issues that make one reflective of their own life, past loves etc. less

I feel in love with this quirky town. It's somewhere that I wouldn't mind visiting again and again.

Love this book - in the vein of "Chocolat". Loved the characters in the book and the story.
