review 1: I am half way through this wonderful book and though I have not finished it I can't help but tell anyone who happens to read my thoughts here to please read this great book! Like the other two novels of Mrs. Stuart this one is comical and paints humans as the bumbling needy creatures we are. But she shows a deep love of humanity in my opinion like my other favorite authors seem to posses as well.
review 2: A delightful, lighthearted read that follows the amusing citizens of a small town in France. Fun and fantastic characters, good-enough plot, satisfying ending. I particularly enjoyed the interactions of the barber/matchmaker and his friend the baker as they went fishing. They would try to outdo each other with gastronomical delights that they brought as 'ju... morest a snack' for their fishing trips. Very sweet and funny book. less
