review 1: Still waters run deep, my friends. Miles Redmond may be an entomologist and a scholar; he may wear glasses and lack the obvious charms of his brother. But that doesn’t mean he can’t satisfy as a hero. In fact, he definitely satisfies. Unfortunately, Cynthia does not see things so clearly. When she first saw Miles, she judged him at face value, a mistake that would come back to haunt her in a big way. Thanks to Cynthia, I didn’t care for this book in the beginning. In fact, I was quite sure that with such an unlikable heroine there was no way I was ever going to enjoy the story. I almost put it down. Now I am glad I didn’t.That does not mean I warmed up to Cynthia right away. She was… difficult to appreciate. But I grew to understand her and root for her romanc... moree with Miles. You see, Miles was smitten with her the first time he laid eyes on her. But he overheard her in a conversation being quite mercenary about marrying for money. She also said some unkind things about him. He tried his best to put her out of his mind.Fast forward to the present. Cynthia is no longer the darling of the ton. She has joined his sister Violet for a house party at the Redmond home. Clearly she is on the hunt for a husband. In fact, now that his older brother is out of the picture, and he is the family heir, he is the subject of her attention. But he quickly shuts her down. He calls her on her monetary motives. But her offers her a deal. He will help her snag a husband, in exchange for a kiss.Once the deal is struck, Miles and Cynthia are in a strange partnership. At first, they think very little of each other. But of course, as they begin to really know each other, an attraction and affection continues to grow. If only each one wasn’t trying to marry someone else…I really liked Miles. He was sexy with his quiet strength and banked sensuality. The sexual tension was so good and the sexy times were hawt. Plus I laughed so hard during this book. Out loud, rip-roaring laughter. Who doesn’t love a flying marble penis gag, really? This was a good one. I’m glad I stuck with it, despite how put off I was by Cynthia initially. Very satisfying.Rating: B
review 2: Julie Ann Long's are consistently the worst edited books I read. Missing periods. Missing spaces. Extra words. Missing words. It's boggling. This wasn't the worst example in this series, but they were everywhere, and that, for me, is inexcusable in a printed book.I might have liked this book more had I liked Cynthia, but I didn't. I don't mind a mercenary heroine, but she seemed so mean spirited and judgmental and just plain mean at times. And I liked Miles, but he was all over the place. Then, the ending felt rushed and a little incomplete. less

My favorite so far. There is tons of sexual tension, heart ache and moments that are laugh out loud.

Not as good as others in the series.
