review 1: I almost gave it a two. I hated that those assholes did that to Phoebe and I hate how at first Dryden didn't seem to care when they (those assholes) put a wager to Phoebe like she was their some kind of amusement. Nonetheless, I admire Phoebe. If I were her I'll go and make my dream in the land of Africa but since I'm not fond of hot places I'll be happy to settle somewhere in Ireland or maybe in France.
review 2: Probably 3 and a half stars. Parts of the book were magical with the captivating phrasing that makes you reread as to treasure the words and images. But something missed somewhere and I can't pinpoint where. Perhaps when Pheobe tells her past to Dryden and he doesn't blink an eye. Her lack of lowerclass accent, how she reverts quickly to her yout
... morehful behavior or when she challenges Miss Redmond indirectly. At that point Pheobe became just another girl at the ball and began to lose herself for a moment with the partying. But then Julie Anne Long writes an amazingly romantic and hysterically funny scene involving a feline and a Marquess that had be shaking in bed while I read the comments from the guys observing the battle. A good story of an orphan who rose from the gutter and managed to win a marquess. less

I really enjoyed Jules and Phoebe's story. It's special to find someone who knows you.

If you nickname a character Lord Ice then perhaps the reader should see that?

I really liked this book, except I thought it went off a little at the end.

I feel like the story was rushed in the end.
