review 1: I enjoyed reading this book. There were, however, a couple things that kept me from giving it a higher rating. First, it as vert predictable. You knew who she was going to end up with on page 10. There was a but of mystery and secrecy in the book. I like mystery in a book, but I also like that mystery to be somewhat unpredictable. Secondly, it dragged a bit in some spots. I did like it overall. :)
review 2: As a fan of British Literature, Jane Austen, and the beloved novel Jane Eyre, I thoroughly enjoyed this book! You know how when you get into a piece of literature so much that you can't put it down? That's how I was with this. From the moment I picked up this book at Barnes & Noble, I knew that I would fall in love with it, and Julie Klassen didn't fail me o
... morene bit with this well-written and engaging romantic mystery. When Emma Smallwood and her father are invited to stay at Ebbington Manor in Cornwall in return to tutor Sir Giles Weston's two younger sons. Emma has very fond memories of Weston's second oldest son, Phillip, but not so much of his older brother, Henry. So... why is Emma apprehensive about encountering Henry Weston again? Without giving too much away, the mystery behind this lovely book is engaging, thrilling, and in a way... quite romantic. Julie Klassen is one of those authors who lures you in right away which is how every author should be. less
