review 1: This was my second book on the plane to Hawaii - just finished it this morning after we have been here a couple days. Kind of an eerie plot but I liked it; my husband is currently reading the first one of Adler-Olsen's, which was even eerier!! (I think the plot of Purity of Vengeance was a bit like The Girl with the Dragon Tatoo.) I feel like we are learning a bit more about Carl Morck now that he has romance in his life. And that Assad makes me laugh out loud when he comes up with these odd words that Carl corrects him on. Overall a good read!
review 2: Like the other Department Q novels, this one is dark. In fact, at the beginning I was thinking it was so dark that perhaps I didn't want to keep reading. But I did, and I'm glad I did. What I'm particularly
... morepleased by is that all the main characters are becoming more and more developed. I really am curious as to Assad's backstory - he's one of the quirkiest, mysterious "sidekicks" in recent crime novels. The tension between him and Morck is palpable, yet with a healthy respect between them. Just so there are no spoilers - the title made perfect sense to me when I finished the book. less

A great addition to the series, like all of the characters and their "investigations".
