review 1: Karen White has done a great job writing about three generations of Mississippi Delta women by moving back and forth between their stories. I am not usually a fan of this style, but it is done so well that you follow the three story threads, eager to see how they all come together. Her characters are not perfect but you really care about what happens. This is the second Karen White book I have read and will be looking for more.
review 2: This was my first Karen White book but I really loved it. The story is about four generations of women in the same family, told from alternating points of view throughout history. But it's not confusing at all and I was just lost in the story. There is a mystery throughout but the main draw for me was the connection through ... moretime of the women who are ultimately strong although it might not always look that way to the outside world. This is story about family, the love that holds generations together and learning to forgive, especially yourself. less
