review 1: A friend at work recommended this one to me. It is Christian fiction, which I like. And I had to roll my eyes when I noticed on Goodreads that it was also logged in as a romance novel, which I am not a fan of. Sometimes Christian fiction and especially romance can be sappy, repetitive, and predictable. And this book was all of those things. Yeah, I rolled my eyes, but I still liked it…a lot. It definitely had some things going for it. I loved the dialogue. That part of it was so well written. The characters were also well defined and likeable. I felt captivated by them. But what I truly did not expect was that it was laugh out loud funny. So this quick read turned out to be fun and the pluses edged my 3 star rating to 4 stars.
review 2: I had s... moreeveral friends who really like this author, so I decided to try her out. I liked pieces of this book a lot and other parts of it drove me a little crazy.The romance was (mostly) cute. I had a hard time with some of the cheesiness, and I really had a hard time with our main male characters possessiveness, especially as it was viewed as romantic. There is nothing romantic about the idea of someone (anyone) owning you. Giving yourself freely to your husband who loves and cherishes you, that's romantic.I also had a bit of a hard time with some of the religious aspects. I understand that this is christian fiction, but the characters devotion seemed contrived in order to prove a point rather than show their actual inner devotion and character, which gives the whole thing a sort of flat preachy feel. That said, I liked it enough that I'll probably give her a second try as an author. The story was fun. I liked most aspects of the characters, and am looking forward to reading more about them. less
