review 1: My son and I enjoyed this story about a cow's favorite food. The rhyming text of the book tells all about how the farmer takes care of the animals on his farm by feeding them the food they like best, hay for horses, slops for pigs and so on. There is a secret reason for the cow to like cookies though, which is revealed at the end of the book (my hubby thought it was a little weird). Great illustrations by Marcellus Hall definitely enhance this fun and silly read-aloud story. Recommended for ages 2-6, 4 stars.

... morechart paper). On the left side write “Farm Animals” and on the left side write the question:”What type of food do they eat?”Have students think of all the animals they can think of that might live on a farm (horse, cow, chickens, geese, hogs, dog, ducks, etc).Have students list what each type of animal might eat.Read the book and have students revisit the T Chart to check if their guesses were correct, according to the book. Then discuss if there were any surprises. (The cow loved cookies and the duck ate quackers--ha!) less
