review 1: My least favorite book in this series so far. It just seemed like both Christian and Elizabeth were too dead inside to have much of a romance, or even have really great sex. Everything seemed so emotionally detached and distant that it was hard to become invested in them as characters or as a couple. I also felt that because of the emotional distance, and all of the convoluted scenarios and back histories, the sex was much too rape-y to really be hot. I felt like I was being told that Elizabeth was okay with all of the stuff that was being done to her, but what I was being shown was that she was really damaged, and that Christian's particular brand of therapy wasn't all that good for her.
review 2: 3.5. Good addition to this series. I loved Christian and Mrs.
... more Smith was a good match for him. The sex was hot but not as good as I was expecting. I was fortunate that I had already read Chrisians mum Helene's book. I would suggest you do it will help in understanding this family dynamic. The over all plot was old and tired but, when the focus is on the h/h and loveable Ambrose and Paul it has a bit of shine. I am looking forward to reading Ambrose and Paul's stories. less
