review 1: She did it again! I am yet to pick up a book written by Kate Quinn that I don't fall in love with. While I like the Rome series a bit more (I found I liked the characters a bit more) This book keeps your attention and going right to the end. My only issue is after watching 4 seasons of Game of Thrones I couldnt get Tyrion's voice out of my head everytime I read the portions of Leonello. Oh well :-)
review 2: This book was definitely a guilty pleasure! Previously, I didn't know anything about the Borgias family in 1400th century Italy but was thrilled to find them so fascinating! A pope who openly had children and kept mistresses. Scandal! I wasn't too interested in Leonello or Carmelina's story lines at first but they definitely grew on me. Eventually, they
... more were even my favorite characters. However, it's nice to see how different classes lived in comparison to the upper class whose lives seemed ridiculously focused on pleasure. Kate Quinn hooked me in once again and I'm excited to read this whole series! less

Too much about the cook, and other useless stuff. Just as I started to get interested, it ended!

This is the third novel I have read by this author and she is a skilled storyteller.
