review 2: I really enjoyed Ken Follett's Pillars of the Earth. This book is equally well written and is a very interesting take on history and personal experiences. I enjoyed the different perspectives from the different countries and social levels. I will say Follett does have definitive political views and that comes through and biases history, but it is not over... more the top and does not take away from the story. less
