review 1: Everything you always wanted to know about World War One, the rise of European Socialism, and the Communist Revolution, but were afraid to ask...or didn't even begin to know enough about to attempt a simple question. True to form, Ken Follet brings history alive with sassy characters, steamy romances and surprising plot twists. A long, but highly entertaining historical novel by a master storyteller!
review 2: I really enjoyed Ken Follett's Pillars of the Earth. This book is equally well written and is a very interesting take on history and personal experiences. I enjoyed the different perspectives from the different countries and social levels. I will say Follett does have definitive political views and that comes through and biases history, but it is not over
... more the top and does not take away from the story. less
