review 1: I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed Kerstin Gier’s Ruby Red trilogy, so I was excited to hear about a new series she had coming out! This one turned out to not be what I expected with a way crazier storyline and it being part of an entirely different genre. Although I didn’t quite love it, Dream a Little Dream still proved to be a good read! The plot of the novel involves several supernatural elements, including magic. I don’t usually like books with witchcraft/magic elements, and I didn’t like it very much in Dream a Little Dream, either. The dreaming aspect was pretty fascinating, though, with the characters remembering and having full awareness of what was happening in their dreams. Dreams are something that I’ve always found interesting, although... more I can never seem to remember my own. The explanation behind the dreams was minimal, but I’m curious to see how the dreams will be further explained in the next two books.Liv, while she could be funny, did not make the best decisions. I was constantly frustrated with her willingness to jump into dangerous situations without thinking much about the consequences. I did like certain aspects of her personality, though, especially her sense of humor. There’s four guys that have a big role in the novel, who are the ones that Liv gets entangled with in the “dream world” and everything that relates to it. I especially liked Grayson, and I’m hoping he might become a love interest for Liv eventually. I think they’d make a cute pairing, and they already have some awesome banter ;) The love interest for Liv in this one was Henry and I’m mostly indifferent to him. I’m not sure if my opinion of him will change in the next book, but for now, I’m not particularly rooting for him and Liv.The ending definitely leaves several questions and I wish that I was able to read German (the second book is already out in Germany) so I could find out what happens next. I'd give this one 3 out of 5 flowers!
review 2: Book: 5 starsCover: 0 starsUgh, the cover is terrible. Not just because it's all pink and girly, but because it doesn't match the tone of the book at all! I love Kerstin Gier's plucky heroines. Liv was another favorite, though I think Gwen from Ruby Red will always be my favorite. I felt like DaLD was more sinister in its storyline, but Liv's (quite literal) devil-may-care attitude kept the book light and fun. I've seen some reviews criticizing these two extremes, but I really liked the mix of both the sinister and the cheerful. I also loved the relationship between Liv and her younger sister. Their love-lorn sheep dialogue still has me laughing. Overall, a super fun read, especially for fans of Ruby Red! less

Fantastic and fun! Now the wait for books two and three begins. Should I learn German to skip ahead?

Un po' deludente rispetto alla Trilogia delle Gemme, ma molto coinvolgente
