review 1: I absolutely adored the Ruby Red trilogy, so of course I picked up a galley of this at a local trade show. Without saying too much this far from the pub date, this book starts a little rough - the writing itself isn't as smooth and engaging as I expected, and it could be a translation thing. I never felt it reached quite the sweet spot that Ruby Red hit, but as the plot picked up it mattered less, and I'm definitely looking forward to the rest of the series.
review 2: Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!! This is sooooooooo freaaaaaaaking frustrating!!! I want to read this lovely book so much it hurts :C I see this beautiful-awesomely book as no other (except for the Ruby trilogy obviously) because this book was written by the glorious Kerstin Gier a.k.a. Best Author E... morever. I enjoyed her Ruby trilogy (still sad it ended) so much I felt I was in heaven asdfghjklñ So... here's another opportunity to revive this *Fangirls way too much* experience:3 I know, I know. I'm not going to have another opportunity to be with Gwen or the wonderful Gideon but, I'm still excited! less
