review 1: 3.5 stars. This is tamer than the previous books, much less action/adventure and more about... well, it meanders. It's pleasant meandering and I love Ennek and Miner both. Their journey has been fascinating and after everything they've been to, they deserve some much needed breathing room. There are some conflicts that pop up and give them something to do, but it didn't feel as cohesive as the previous books. The resolution was convenient, but it's not a complaint, per se, since I'm overall happy with how it ended. Most important was how they addressed Ennek's near-nuclear power, because I was really worried about that after the last book, but again, something that could have been a point of conflict was resolved fairly quickly and quietly. It was a pleasant and enjoyable ... moreread.
review 2: I was pretty excited when I began this book. I had enjoyed the introduction to Ennek and Miner in Stasis and was really charmed with their romance and the characters in Flux. While reading the 1st two books was a joy, reading Equipoise seemed like a chore. The story seemed forced, rushed and predictable. I missed the dialog between the lovers that showed up in Flux, but only found mundane exchanges. However, I can't bash the book too much because Ms. Fielding created two very endearing protagonists and brought their saga to a very satisfying end. less

A nice end to the series - though I would happily read more about these characters.
