review 1: KDP Building Your Book for Kindle focuses on building Kindle files from Word. I worked towards this goal initially, but then discovered Scrivener and decided to build my Kindle directly in Scrivener rather than work with Word. Scrivener was a preferred alternative because I could build and test Kindle locally with the help of the Kindle for PC app (and other freed KDP downloads).It would have been nice to have a bit of discussion of production alternatives before launching into a particular alternative. A theme in many computer self-help books is to define the topic narrowly before most people really have a handle on their alternatives. This is unfortunate. Most of the early uncertainty in a project revolves around the choice of tools. I cannot say how many of such ... morebooks I have purchased needlessly only to find that I was reading about the wrong set of tools.Stephen
review 2: I actually read the e-version for Mac, although I did not find IOS systems listed on GR. Amazon and Kindle Direct offer excellent tips and a dandy reference guide for digitizing books that do not contain many graphics or illustrations. However due to the lack of current e-publishing technology that supports fixed layouts of image-based books across multiple e-reading platforms, this book did not help me convert my illustrated kidlit chapter books into e-readers. Sigh. I recommend this only for tackling straight-text, e-book conversions for those who are tech savvy and don't mind striking out on their own. Price was right, too.....free! less
