review 1: I thoroughly enjoyed this story. I would have given it 5 stars but there was one thing that really, really bugged me and another that sort of bugged me.Zach and Nathan meet under less than stellar circumstances. They end up having angry sex the night they meet. Their relationship is not smooth nor is it always happy. I am not going to detail how they meet or their issues because that's the journey of the story. Zach owns a movie theater. The reader gets a taste of Zach's life as a small business owner in a subplot involving his employee issues. Nathan is a lawyer. The reader doesn't really know anything more than that.My biggest issue with this story was that Nathan's lack of trust. I totally understood his reasons but his solution was non existent. I wanted him ... moreto work through the issue. I wanted him to seek professional assistance. The other thing was that Zach's ex-boyfriend just disappears very early in the story. He was a good source of tension in the story and I wanted more of him. These issues weren't so huge as to destroy the strength of the writing but they did annoy me.I would recommend this story to anyone who enjoys m/m romance, contemporary romance and simple, straightforward stories.Quotes:And still it escalated until, even though we were just inches apart, standing toe to toe, I couldn't hear him anymore. I couldn't hear him over myself and I couldn't hear myself over him. loc 53%I'm supposed to think this is wrong. loc 23%
review 2: Can you ever get sweet water from a poisoned well?Seriously, how do you find purity when you started with something tainted. Mistrust and betrayal, two demons of relationship hound Nathan and Zach. Due to an inauspicious start the entire journey is uphill with a lot of sliding backwards on unstable ground. At some point they have to find firm footing for their feelings or this is going to fail. This one's for all the readers who like the rocky road.Favorite quote:The only time fighting was worth it was when there was anything to gain—or keep—by fighting less

Well written, nice escapist read, bit of an easy ending though.

Not horrible, but also not outstanding. A fun read though.
