review 1: Old foes return again as Magpie and Talon continue their quest for the remaining sleeping Djinn and restore the Tapestry to its former glory. Two faerie clans thought lost to teh world return in the form of Whistler and Hirik, and the world takes another step into the the new age as they become heroes and campions of the Djinn. But a faerie named Dusk - formerly Onyx - is at large after jos identitity is not discovered in time by the champions. His evil may yet be the undoing of the world, as he is well versed in dark magic meant to steal the power of others and is in the possession of one of the sleeping Djinn. Taylor seems to have stopped writing this series, unfortunately, so we may never find out the conclusion of the story :(
review 2: I LOVE Laini Taylo... morer! I am reading everything she's written! She able to construct such interesting universes that are interesting (hello Fairies!) as well as dangerous (all forms of devils and a half man/half taurantula)! She is able to capture a reader's attention with her myriad of details, but holds it with her complex relationships between characters. She continues Magpie's storyline (heroine of Blackbringer, the companion novel) and starts a new one with Whisper, the last silksinger and the reader can't help but hold on for the wild ride. I love how she develops strong female characters, who are brave, not because they are made that way, but because they stand up for duty and for good. A great allegory about acceptance, tolerance, and sacrifice! Bravo! less
