review 1: The story was just OK for me. It seemed to me that the girl was constantly moaning and groaning about her childhood. It was annoying too how much she wanted to be accepted into a society that she acknowledged hating. It wasn't until the last couple chapters that she and Christian finally hook up :( and I personally don't like the setting of the early 1900s, although the author did a good job with the details of this time. (I just like the setting a bit more into the 1700 or 1800s)
review 2: I really enjoyed this book. Its set on the boat, with Annabel's upcoming wedding. Shes american and has got considerable wealth from her father, who died not that long ago. She has always wanted to stand amongst the elite in society and is marrying to achieve this for her
... more family. Her uncle despises her fiancée, but Annabel is fond of him (not love). Her uncle hires a 'rake' who is good at seducing women to change her mind about the wedding. In typical fashion we know Annabel is going to be attracted to Christian. They end up talking and kissing on the boat but Annabel still goes ahead with the wedding. Christian objects to the wedding, embarrasses her and stops the wedding from occurring. Annabel's fiance calls the wedding off and she is very unhappy as this means she can't get her standing in society. Christain offers to find a suitable husband for her in England as he as ruined her wedding already. She agrees, and as they spend more time together they realise they like each other more and she doesn't want anyone else. She is still skeptical of Christians past (as he doesn't commit and he once had a wife and has said he doesn't want to marry again). They ended up having sex and an incident occurs, but they eventually agree to marry one another as they both realise they love each other. It was an interesting book, but it all happens in a very short period of time. I wouldn't think she would fall so head over heels with someone after having 2 short conversations with them just before her wedding, but who am I to judge. Overall it was entertaining and Christian had some funny lines. less

Though it had the predictable ending, it was a very enjoyable and well written book
