review 1: The only reason I am not giving this five stars is hat ironically I did not think the two lead characters had enough 'honeymoon' stage together. The minute hey slept together things went wrong.I also did not appreciate the fact that the minute Maria slept with Phillip and she refuses his marriage proposal for the second time she still is willing to give up her shop for him. HAS SHE NEVER HEARD OF A WORKING MOTHER???? How could she be willing to give up her 12 year dream after only three mpnhs to have this man's s babies and live off his many riches? Granted I would not complain if an insanely rich guy wanted to marry me. But I would still pursue my dreams. Especial ially if he is willing to support me and my dreams, which Phillip said he'd do!
review 2: I ... morelove!! What a relief after reading the second book of the BC series. I think this is one of my favorite. I know Philip was kind of terrible being all Darcy with his 'my family is great yada yada yada' but what can you say.. He wanted Maria but unfortunately Lawrence got to her first.. He was trying to be a gentleman, misguided it seemed but he was soo kind at heart. I liked him since their childhood, right from the start where he didn't tell on her to his old man about the swings.. Oh!! And the ribbon! That is soo romantic that he didn't want to give it to her even when she cried.. How can you not love a guy like that?? No, that was not selfish IMHO. That was him self sacrificing. And I soo adore Maria, with her ambitions and maturity.. And her stubbornness and her wit. Very perfect for the stuffy Philip ;-) less
