review 1: Morgan FudaleBeautyBy Lauren Conrad Beauty by Lauren Conrad is a book that talks a lot about the healthy way to look and feel beautiful. Many women feel like they have to cover up all of their imperfections with makeup and other beauty products. The author is trying to teach the reader that you shouldn't cover up the imperfections but to focus on the perfections so that the imperfections are less noticeable. For example say you like your eyes but not your lips you would use eyeshadow to enhance and brighten up your eyes and wear a light/ nude lipstick to make your eyes more noticeable and lips less noticeable. One thing that I learned was some of the worst things for your skin, some of these things include sun, smoking, and dehydration. Sun is bad for your skin be... morecause it dries the outer layer of your skin also if you are exposed to the sun to much throughout your life you can get diagnosed with Skin Cancer. Smoking can destroy the way your face looks because it makes wrinkles around the mouth and speeds up aging process of your skin. Lastly Dehydration is is not good for your skin is because skin is the bodies largest organ and you should drink plenty of water to keep it strong and healthy. I also learned the different types of vitamins, what they are good for and where you can find them. Two vitamins that I found interesting would have to be Vitamin D and Vitamin K. Vitamin D is used to combat dry skin and is important for the development of your teeth. You can find Vitamin D in the sunshine, by spending 10-15 minutes in the sun for one week, you can also find it in milk and any other dairy products. Vitamin K helps combat uner eye dark circles. You can find it in many vegetables such as kale, spinach, turnip greens, collared greens, Swiss chard, mustard greens, parsley, romaine, green leaf lettuce, Brussels sprouts, broccoli, cauliflower, and cabbage. There were a lot of things that I liked in this book, one thing that I liked where the pictures. The picture really helped by showing me the steps or how something is supposed to look. Another thing that I really liked about was how the author talked to the reader. For example she states "I hope you discover this too and that you use the information in this book to look and feel like your best version of you." I like this because I felt like we where having a conversation the whole time. I didn't really not like anything, I thought this was a great book and I found it very interesting. I would recommend this book to any teenage girl who is new to makeup and beauty. I wouldn't recommend this book for boys or men because I don't think they would be very interested in beauty. Overall I really enjoyed this book and I am willing to read other books by Lauren Conrad.
review 2: I flipped through this at the library once because I was intrigued and then immediately checked it out. I loved so many of Lauren Conrad + team's tips and tricks, especially lists of ingredients to avoid, lists of vitamins in foods and what they do for your body, etc. I want to try the hair masks that Lauren shares and there are so many great hair tips, tutorials, and ideas. Her chapter on stress is also insightful and informative. I love what she says about beauty and it is refreshing to hear from someone in that industry... that it is dependent not on someone else's definition but when you feel healthiest and happiest and at your best. When I was little I loved the Klutz braid book of the 90s that my family had, and I feel like this book is a grown-up version of sorts. less
