review 1: 4.5 stars. This book was far more on par with the 3rd one in my opinion and i enjoyed it a lot more than the first one.Heroine: wow she was something else she was so strong but had her vulnerabilities and buttons that got pushed and made her feel very realistic. Dane does a fantastic job of fleshing out the psyche of characters with troubled pasts maybe even the best job of it i've seen in a romance. i'm not normally a huge fan of books with a kid but you can't help but love precocious little Rennie and i was especially impressed at how well written elise was as a mother-perfect balance of disciplinarian and friend, always putting rennie first.Hero: Cope is still my favorite so far but i do adore Brody. He's tough but warm and fuzzy with the people he cares about. He's pro... moretective and just dominant enough but realizes when he's taking it too far and pulls himself back. Romance: Loved it. Very well developed and for the most part well paced. i liked that this wasn't the typical romance love at first sight thing and that they had a gradual fall into love starting out as friends...with benefits, but genuinely getting to know one another before phrases of love entered the picture. The character's internal dialogue gave us time to get used to the fact that they loved each other but as far as saying it to each other it seemed like it happened very quickly after the rest of it moving so slowly. This wasn't really a turnoff so much as a "hmm well that escalated quickly" thing but i suppose it was worth mentioning.Sex scenes: one word-yum! these two had mad chemistry and Dane writes wonderful sex scenes with just the right amount of light BDSM type material to make it extra spicy. i normally hate the word cunt (one of the very few i find offensive) but as the heroine mentions in the book somehow in this one it didn't bother me so much. not the word i'd prefer in my books and certainly not in real life but it wasn't as much of a turn off here as it normally was. Plot: Definitely mostly revolves around the romance with a little courtroom drama added to mix things up. with books this size or bigger i usually prefer an added storyline beyond just the romance but i think with this book a whole other plot line would've hindered more than helped. i wouldn't have minded a some extra scenes from the pasts of both characters, but especially elise's, and definitely would've liked the courtroom drama part to be just a little more expanded on so it didn't feel just tacked on to keep this from being just a romance book; however the lack of these things never detracted from my enjoyment of the book they would've just been nice additions.Writing: overall very good with no errors or awkward writing that i noticed. i like the way dane interweaves the stories but allows them to also stand alone, and how we get little glimpses of past and future stories without them overwhelming the current story. my biggest issue is the cringe i get every single time i read the word "tat." Maybe this is just me but i haaaate that phrase and generally i only hear frat boys/douchebags and people who don't actually have any use it. It is especially odd coming from a tattoo artist since i've never heard any artist actually say it and have in fact heard many artists mock people who do say it. That being said i adore how prominent tattoos and piercings are in this series and it makes me soooooo happy to see them portrayed as meaningful art on everyday people not just douchebag biker types or idiots who get random japanese on them.Bottom line: fantastic book and one that i highly recommend. pretty solid main characters, a kid even i couldn't help but love, a strong sense of family (and not just those of the blood), and tattoos and piercings galore....what's not to love? :)
review 2: I do not know how to Rate this book. There were parts when I wanted to give up reading. In fact several times....Story itself has potential but the writing style was flawed. In some areas it runs through events, and I'm missing emotions in som parts.Like someone alongside describes the action, and not the author who's trying to make us feel the story. Is quite predictable. less
