review 1: Well, this was a decent read. Something to pass the time with. It was pretty straight forward. Though, how they finally came together after all the years they wasted. All they needed to do was communicate better and their romance could have started earlier. Mark has a shitty boyfriend named Jamie. Mark comes home one day early and sees Jamie literally banging the landlord... the married 'straight' landlord. This story does have its funny moments, I will give you that. Sometimes I actually laughed out loud. Like what happened at the beginning of the book when Mark rolls up in church to 'confront' Jamie. So, finding out his boyfriend was a cheat wasn't bad enough, he finds out Jamie has wiped his bank accounts also. Then he finds out that Jamie has been cheating on him... more pretty much the whole time. Jamie is a dickhead. I don't care much for him at all. But unlike Jamie, Mark is a caring kind guy.As Mark is clearing out(his house) of Jamie, he comes across Jamie's laptop and keeps it for evidence. All this and then we bring in Tony. Mark as a had a crush on Tony forever. But Tony is not into him... or is he..Tony is beside himself with guilt. For which comes to into light later on in the book. Mark, someone he cares for is having a rough time with his now ex boyfriend Jamie. He is trying his best to keep Mark in control and not breaking as many laws as he wants.. since Tony is a cop. Perhaps now that Mark is free, Tony will finally find the courage to tell Mark the truth about everything and his feelings too.
review 2: This novella was very entertaining. I thoroughly enjoyed reading about Mark, Tony, Jamie, and even the awful landlord Kevin. I also enjoyed the raunchiness. I was delightfully shocked by the sex scenes. I think I assumed the scenes would be more conservative since the version of this book that I read was from a Harlequin imprint. Shows how much I know! LB Gregg has skills and I'm looking forward to reading more books by her, starting with others in this Men of Smithfield series. less
