review 1: 4.5 stars. I loved this story. Owen and Caleb are absolutely perfect for each other. The Vermont winter setting, crazy (but loving) family, jealous ex-boyfriend and Jake (the dog - XD couldn't help it) were a great background for the story. My only "complaint" is about some of Owen's extreme reactions to obviously simple issues, but maybe it was just an intentional character flaw. Anyway, read a couple of reviews flagging the flashbacks as a downer, not me. I loved the roller coaster in and out of their past. It was a bit hard to grasp at the beginning, but IMO it gave depth to their story. I would love to have more of Caleb's take on their past scenes though. Oh, and definitively LOVED the "twist" on the matchmaking con. All and all, a great holiday ... moretale.
review 2: I loved this book! Yes, it was short. But it a full story. Granted it was only over a couple days but still. Owen has a very meddling family, his mom in particular. So naturally he thought she was up to something. For once, she wasn't! Well, not in the way he thought anyway. Caleb sounds absolutely yummy to me. He and Owen were kind of an item when they knew each other 15 years prior...until Caleb left. One of the things I loved...you see Caleb and Owen as they are now but you get plenty of back story from when they were younger. It was an interesting Christmas time...especially when Owen's ex Keith showed up. Listening to them all together will have you laughing. No one takes Keith's barbs without giving back. And Own tries so hard to make things clear without giving too much of himself away. less
