review 1: Sweet Jesus, this one was NOT my style. I love a good cozy mystery (a la Laura Childs, etc), but this was extremely formulaic. Too many characters introduced in a short period of time. Jerky sentences that were either missing punctuation or coherent thought. I couldn't decide. If I were the author, I'd fire my editor immediately. Seriously bad. After Chapter 3 I was ready to choke somebody if I heard "but that was a whole other story" again. I stopped at Chapter 4.
review 2: Death of a Chocoholic was a book I was lucky enough to win a month ago in Goodreads Giveaways. It is a lighthearted mystery that is excellent to read on a beach or sitting inside as the snow flies outside. Against all odds, the main character Hayley, investigates the death of a friend; she ... moresuspects that her friend's so called heart attack might actually be a murder. A bonus addition to the book are seven delicious chocolate recipes that I just may copy before I pass the book on to someone else. There are three other Hayley Powell mysteries that I may just purchase and each one is connected to food! What is there not to like? less
