review 1: Uno de los primeros escritos de Tolstoi,. y sorprendente por muchas cosas. Sobre todo, por su utilización de la primera persona para dar cuenta de esta historia de un matrimonio desigual y que no sabe ser feliz pese a estar llamado a ello; a esta historia de un matrimonio condenado a fracasar y que sin embargo, no fracasa, a esa intrusión de lo social dentro de lo privado cuando nadie desea lo social, y sin embargo es algo que debe ser aceptado. Una historia que podría resultar un tanto inocente y que sin embargo tiene un vigor que anticipa la fuerza de Ana Karenina. Bravo.
review 2: A touching story. Tolstoy delivers plenty of keen insights into human nature and human relationships. It's not the type of story I would usually choose to read (the first part i... mores a will-they won't-they love-story, and the second part basically is the same — except that they are married by now), but charmingly executed. Nevertheless, it's not a gripping read, so if *War and Peace* runs at the same pace, it might take a while to get through. less
