review 1: If you came to this from Cory Doctorow's breathless review, expect to be disappointed. It's a short enough read that you don't feel more than a minor annoyance, but "a just-about-perfect science fiction novel" this most definitely is not. An interesting conceit, a few laugh-out-loud moments, good world building, poor character building (human), two or three interesting aliens and an unbelievable love story (human).
