review 1: If you came to this from Cory Doctorow's breathless review, expect to be disappointed. It's a short enough read that you don't feel more than a minor annoyance, but "a just-about-perfect science fiction novel" this most definitely is not. An interesting conceit, a few laugh-out-loud moments, good world building, poor character building (human), two or three interesting aliens and an unbelievable love story (human).
review 2: Recommended by @hmason on Twitter -- aliens come to earth and a computer game blog reviewer gets to be one of the cultural contacts. Shenanigans with govt. agents and alien computer games ensue. Funny, shading into thoughtful and sometimes sad eventually, but always fun. Big page turner.
