review 1: It has been over a year and McKinley High is still in quarantine. Even with the door open, things don't turn out as expected. The Loners lose their stronghold, what with David being dead and many members taken out of the picture. How will the Loners left survive? Also, a new group of teens has invaded McKinley High. Can these new kids be trusted? This is a book of the unexpected. Don't get attached to any character, because you never know how long they will hang around. The reader thinks they see what is coming, but...well you will have to read the book to find out. It is more risque than the first book and not something I would recommend to young teens. It is an interesting Lord of Flies look at modern teens.
review 2: Parents are strongly cautioned. Book 1 wa
... mores edgy (violence, sexual content, and adult language) yet the authors created a compelling plot- high school students reestablishing social mores in a Lord of the Flies post-apocalyptic world. Though many of the characters were more caricature, Will, Lucy, and David were fairly well developed and worthy of our interest. However In their attempts to sustain our interests in book 2, Lex Thomas have ramped up the violence to ludicrous levels. This book feels more video game than novel and instead of being compelling it's merely gross. Many of my male students liked this book, but I can find little to recommend in it. less

The ending leaves plenty to tell... I can't wait until the 3rd book is released!

Not as good as the first book. Am hoping the third book will 'redeem' it.
