review 1: Poor Dru, just when she thought she might finally be safe; she realizes she's anything but. On top of that, she's essentially under lockdown at the Scholas and is seriously outnumbered by guys. Even better, is that they all seem to have far too much testosterone for their own good. While Graves is making friends and getting an education on the Real World, Dru is sitting in "her" room and waiting for Christophe to come back and train her. Unfortunately, it seems as though he's not exactly well liked there: oh, and there also might be a mole there who's told Sergej where she is. Overall a really great situation for Dru to be caught in. Will anyone be leaving this school in one piece?
review 2: I did not enjoy this book as much as the first volume, but then
... morelittle by little i finished the book and actually i became curious about some characters, what will happen to them in the series. So, Dru is a svetocha, she is half vampire and with the ability to kill a nosferatu but she is not at her full capacity yet, she is trying to understand her new powers which at some point exhaust her and make her vulnerable.”Betrayals” starts slow, boring, Dru is with the loup garou Graves in this school of the Order, she has nothing to do, no one trains her or protects her, she feels alone, even Graves is hanging out more with the werewolves than with her.Djamphir Christophe shows up from time to time, to tell her there is a traitor within the Order, but Dru never actually finds out who that person is, and she is also caught between the passion for Christophe and the ”more than friends” feeling for Graves.Ofcourse there is a love triangle but not so well developped.Dru is trying to sort out her feelings and in the same time she is curious to know who is trying to kill her , who is really her enemy and who is her friend. The vampires are closing in on her and the person behind everything is still a mistery. It seems that the nosferatu Sergej has killed her mother who was also a svetocha but Dru also feels that there is more to be found about this tragic event in her life. Also svetocha Anna is coming in the picture, her intentions are still unknown but she seems to have an interest in Christophe.Dru is caught up in all this chaos, and she is not even where she was supposed to be, but so far her friends, Graves, Christophe, some werewolves, are with her trying to protect her and risking their lives at the same time.Romantic moments are almost non existent and i was also interested in more action. But i am hoping that book 3 in the series, Jealousy, will captivate me more, and yes i am curious about what happens to the characters, how the story will develop.Funny thing is that Dru seems to always be beaten and dirty but she is still strong and that,s a good thing.I will also mention that i read the romanian version of this book and sorry if i made any mistakes, i am not a native English language speaker. less

I liked this book SO MUCH MORE than the first book!!And I really had my share of problems with Dru, but I ACTUALLY started liking her in this book.Probably, because she is a badass, but still shows insecurities (which is the only way a human being is authentic..well, human being is not that fitting though). And Graves is A PERFECT CHARACTER, I love his sass and his need to protect Dru at the same time.Even Christophe is someone you just can not hate. I can see how a love triangle is possible, but I definitely already know who I want that person to be (Graves, whooo else???!)Loved the story, loved looking for the traitor. I'm ready for more!

I really wanted to give this at least 4 stars. I love the mythos the author has created. I enjoy her writing style. I wanted to like this more. The major problem is the main character, Dru. She is whiny, bitchy and weak. She bumbles her way through the book, relying on others to fight for her. She is boringly unconscious throughout one of, what should have been anyway, most exciting parts of the book. And since she is unconscious, we the readers do not get to read what happens. The chaise scene, which is effectively the last third of the book, is way too long and awkward. Not sure if I will continue with series.
