review 1: c2011: FWFTB: Amish, children, poop-pit, righteous, justice. It is not about the whodunit, I think but more the character of the main protagonist, Kate Burkholder. I could spot the killer almost from the first but it was great to get more of Kate's background in this book. The change in tenses is a good plot device when handled well which I think Ms Castillo managed to do. The best interlocking plot was the relationship between Kate and Tomasetti and I especially liked the scene in the bar when they are playing pool/snooker. There were too many loose ends for my liking though but some of the normal crew may enjoy the quick read.
review 2: Book 3 in the Kate Burkholder series did not disappoint. If anything, Linda Castillo's writing just gets better with each su
... moreccessive book. As those before, it is a true page-turner...keeping you questioning and speculating down to the last ten pages. You find yourself so involved with the characters and multiple plots that you dread to see it end, though it must. What it does accomplish is give you the immediate urge to get your hands on the next book in the series...which leaves me now, with three more to go. For someone like myself, who never read mysteries before, it says something great about the author...I will now read all her books. She is a wonderful writer...never leaving you confused...just wanting more. less
