Kate Burkholder
review 1: Chief Kate Burkholder and State Agent John Tomasetti are investigating the disappearance of several Amish female teens. The case leads them to cold cases of the same nature. What I like about author Castillo’s writing about crimes around the Amish community is how she portrays them as human and shows how the Amish communities are not exempt from sibling and other relations rape, murder, child abuse, religious brainwashing, capitalism, corruption and everything else that goes on in every other community.Gone Misusing is a great read for those who enjoy police thrillers because the characters are believable. Kate Burkholder is a policewoman who is fallible but who get things done even when her decisions may cause the death of others. Kathleen McInerary was the perfect choic... moree for narrating Gone Missing.
review 2: Kate Burkholder is my hero. I love that she is such a flawed character, not fitting totally into the secular world, but far from her Amish roots. I love her strength, values, and drive. Linda Castillo has created a character that it so realistic, it is hard to believe she isn't a real person. The Kate Burkholder series is gripping, entertaining, and moving. The best review I can give is that I can't wait to start #5. less
