The Emperor's Edge
review 1: What can I possibly say about this book? I have LOVED reading The Emperor's Edge series, and I am devastated that it's over... or at least Lindsay Buroker wants us to THINK it's over. This book was written from the POV of 6 different characters. Amaranthe, Sicarius, Tikaya, Mahliki, Sespian and Maldynado. It was pretty easy to follow-- Buroker is good at letting you know who's head you're in pretty quickly. The story starts out with Amaranthe and Sicarius trying to enjoy some vacation time (no thanks to the island locals) and getting called back urgently by President Starcrest. They return, only to be immediately set upon by another skilled assassin and a rather creepy looking water weed. From there we learn about the goings on in the city of Stumps through the different P... moreOV's. The plant is growing rapidly, slowly destroying the city, is seemingly indestructible and a local religious group may be trying to sabotage the new President. It's up to Amaranthe and gang to figure out how to rid the city of these new threats. I enjoyed hearing the story through the different POV's (Sicarius' is always my favorite) and getting to know some new characters. As always, the banter and relationships between characters is hilarious and very realistic. The way the story ends for the characters who's POV's we've read could definitely lead into another book... and Akstyr was pretty much non-existent which I was sad about. I'd like an update on everyone and another adventure. Here's to hoping, fingers crossed, that Lindsay Buroker gives us some more of her beloved Emperor's Edge team.
review 2: These series has absolutely transformed me, I thoroughly loved these books and the characters. There is always a concern about a another book being published after the series has ended, however this was really well written and I still want more! I've hunted down and read every book related to this series and I can't get enough of these characters especially Amaranthe and Sicarius. This has opened my eyes to the books of steampunk less
