review 1: Several items were left unanswered, leaving space for the next installment. This was a pretty basic mystery and no real surprises. A woman is hiding from her husband, who once tried to kill her. She came looking for Dan Grayson, the sheriff, to get his help. Meanwhile, women are being murdered and the only clue is that their ring fingers and rings are being removed. The most interesting part of the book are the interactions between Piscoli, Alvarez and Sheriff Blackwater.
review 2: This is a very engaging book one that I read quickly because I wanted to see what was what and how all the things in the book were going to come together. I have read other books by here and feel she is a solid writer of mystery and her books are usually enjoyable. The two lead chara... morecters you care about and root for them in the ups and downs of there case. Since I enjoy trying to figure out "who done it" I enjoyed thinking and guessing on the crumbs (clues in their world) dropped along the way and admit had a hard time figuring this one out. Very enjoyable read. less
