review 1: I am absolutely in love with this book. It was an easy read, the short chapters kept it easy to keep going. I will say there were some grammatical errors throughout but nothing to take away from the plot.This book just kept me at the edge of the seat, not knowing what to expect. I will be recommending this book to all to read. Don't listen to the terrible reviews! Pick it up and judge for yourself. I originally bought this in an airport as an easy airplane read, and I couldn't put it down. Yes lots of different story lines, but all tied together in the end and I'm not an emotional reader, but the ending got to me. I had never heard of Lisa before this book, but I will be picking up another of her books for sure. This truly shows the reality that some vets go through, being... more in the army myself and I understand the horrors some individuals go through upon their return. Thank you for this wonderful read!
review 2: How stupid can one man be!?! If you like a book that makes you feel, this is it. It reflects one man's poor choice after poor choice. I found myself yelling at this guy. Yelling at him not to sign the contract, knowing it could seal his fate. Yelling at him for all the stupid he was doing and about to do. I didn't think I would enjoy the parts when Dr. Mike Scanlon was in Afghanistan however that was crucial to the story and while what was occurring was not enjoyable, it was jolting and poignant. While I liked this book all the way through, the change of heart at the end was definitely over-the-top. It came way too easily. A little too feel–good for me. Still, there was so much more to the book to rate it a five-star that I'm not willing to lower my rating because of a less than stellar ending. less
