review 1: I am a Lisa Wingate fan. I started with her book, "Tending Roses," and have made it a point to read all of them. I haven't been disappointed yet. You don't necessarily have to read the books in order as the story lines are unique to each book, but some of the characters carry over from one book to the next. I have read some of her books more than once. In this book I was hooked from the first sentence: "It's strange what you look past in a normal day -- the big picture you don't see, while you're busy focusing on all the little things that seem to matter in the moment." Lisa's characters are all very well developed and "real." Their struggles and dreams are the same ones we all deal with and it's interesting to see how the characters resolve their problems and grow... more from them. Very hopeful and uplifting.
review 2: It's a gentle read - dealing with issues of homelessness, interdependence, and corporate ethics... I loved the message that too often we give power to those around us, because we worry about what they think about us... Truly it only matters what we think of ourselves... Am I living and thinking and acting the way I want to be... Are my thoughts and actions in line with my personal beliefs of who I am... Hmmmm a question to ask myself on a daily basis... less
