review 1: This was a short story. So as short stories go it was nice. There was the definite theme of middle age crisis and how to over come the empty nest feeling. Aunt Sandy did this very well by opening her own beach shop filled with beautiful things far away from her family farm where all of her siblings live. I wanted the story to have more of a conclusion about what happened with the house at the family farm but the story focused on the shop by the sea built on a sand bar. Thankfully the story was very inexpensive and I presume it's chief purpose is to prime the pump for the true book 'The Prayer Box'. It is worth reading to get you in the right mood or frame of mind for the main story.
review 2: I enjoyed this simple story dealing with the changes we face in life
... moreand in the storms of life. This quote rather summarizes the book's theme: "Maybe life is a series of little deaths and rebirths, of passages and rites of passage, of God teaching you to stop slinging to one thing so you can reach for another." The hurricane on the outer banks became the venue for the larger lessons in the book. Just as physical storms come-- so do internal, life storms; and yet, the truth of scripture remains. "And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God and are called according to His purpose." (Romans 8:28). less

good story, fun since I've just recently been to the Outerbanks. I thought it was a little short.
