review 1: This started out slow and confusing for me. I never quite got the feel of all the relationships between some of the characters...history between individuals that never quite had the dots fully connected. But as the story continues, boy does it pick up speed.Katie is one of those great heroine characters. Spunky and sassy and ready to punch out any demon's lights. The slow path to hell...or insanity...is so clear, and you easily believe her struggles in dealing and comprehending this whole 'nother world unfolding at her feet. And Rhyn? What can I say other than one of those bad-misunderstood-boys who's broken and defiant and you just can't help rooting for. You literally want to save this guy...or take him to bed. (wink)All hell's broken loose...and you do not want to miss w... moreatching this show close up! This is on my series-to-keep reading list!
review 2: I really liked the world and the characters in this read. They kept me completely engaged. But.... I went into this not realizing this was a YA book. Grrr!! I generally avoid them because I feel cheated when it comes to the love scenes. I don't need porn but I do need something. The love scenes are fade to black which always leave me wanting more. If much of the plot is built around the romance and includes physical references then I feel it needs to follow through. I have seen YA's that have done a much better job building a romance while leaving out the physical aspect. If you aren't going to share the sex than do not build towards it. Its just a let down.Having said all this, I will continue the series because the plot is one that I want to see through to the end. I will go into the rest of the series with my eyes open. less
