review 1: Noble and his partner, Bear, are part of a group of CIA teams operating in Afghanistan. They get set up for the murder of an Afghani family, chased down, arrested. Their only hope is to convince their generals that they are innocent. The story takes some interesting twists as they find out who all are involved in the plot and why. More than a bit unrealistic, but take it for what it is — fictional small guy as a hero with uncanny abilities and connections, neither of which would be possible in the real world. Think Dirk Pitt wrapped in a coarser cover.
review 2: This is the first of what is obviously going to be a long series of books involving Jack Noble, a Marine, who was assigned to assist CIA special ops teams, both in the U.S. and overseas. The book is so
... more-so. Throughout the book, Noble and his partner, "Bear," attempt to clear themselves of false accusations of murder. Their movements are mirrored by the assassination of just about everyone with whom they come into contact. In the end, they find the person behind the attempt to eliminate them, but the author does not really clarify why they were targeted.I chose to read this book on the basis of the reviews that I saw on Goodreads. Once into it, despite my disappointment with the plot line, I felt I had to continue to the end. I would not recommend this book to others. less

The style of writing did not appeal to me. Regrettably the book fell short of my expectation.

Interesting start to the series, it reads OK, but I prefer the later books.

This wasn't a bad book, but it was a LOT like the Jack Reacher series.
