review 1: This story just didn't catch me. It didn't feel like the story really had any kind of a resolution, and was more a premise for a sex scene- a very explicit sex scene, but a sex scene nonetheless.I think I might have enjoyed it more with other aspects of characterization coming through than simply the pair's sexual drive. The most successful BDSM relationships I know come as a result of a lot of communication and openness in other ways, so stories that just jump right to "and then he tied her up" just feel flat to me. In the absence of more characterization or plot, all we see is him as an alpha male inflicting pain. It takes away from the sexual language of the experience. And the waiver really bugged me, given the level of communication they had prior to her signing it. B... moreeing open to new experiences is one thing, but giving a blank check for potentially life-threatening ones (like choking) with no direct communication about the risks or process is another.Part of the exhilaration in bdsm, especially for a submissive, comes from knowing that you don't NEED to assert yourself or ask to have your needs met. You trust your Dom to look after you first, however violent or humiliating your needs are, and that's a tough bond to communicate in writing. I don't think Lucia Jordan nailed it in this one. Maybe she'll be able to explore it more fully in more stories, but I would be inclined to doubt it, looking at the plotting and the role of the story in this one.
review 2: So girl can’t get off with vanilla sex, so she signs up on a web site for BDSM. Meets the guy and gets off to pain. Sorry it was to blah. It was the pain that caused her arousal and I have a hard time with hitting any way shape or form.A story needs magic to become real, to feel the characters, want to be the characters. Lucia Jordan does some wonderful work but this one wasn’t for me. less
