review 1: The relationships in this book were equal to ones in real life.I felt they could be my neighbors or friends. I did like the mystery of what she discovers towards the end of the book.It leaves me feeling better for the animals(yes even though they are taxidermied). What a find! She says she is doing one thing but she was intoxicated and still might decide to share it with more of the world.Who knows?Only the author.
review 2: I think I'm too old for inanity. She is a highly recommended author, Pulitzer prize nominee. This book was stupid. A woman who sleeps with everyone she meets including the bag checker at the market. Story of cheating on your husband. He is killed in weird convoluted part of plot, she inherits huge mansion in pasadena with gazillions of
... morestuffed animals on the walls. She immediately takes up with the lawyer. Not even worthy of calling it a beach book. I know it was the third in a series, but what in the heck did she write that's worthy of Pulitzer prize nomination? less

Very good book but so unbelievably depressing that I probably would not recommend it to many people.

A bit of a slow starter but only the very start, as the story soon takes a surprising turn.

Nafisa
Quirky but a let-down of an ending.
