review 1: Let me say up front, I adore everything that Lyndsay Faye writes. I was a little hesitant to read her take on Holmes and Watson, because obviously they're such classic characters and it would be horrible to fail at a story with them. My fears were misplaced however. There were no jarring moments where I thought she had violated the foundational oeuvre. Loads of fun, and her dialogue (as always) was fantastic.

There are many theories as to the identity of Jack the Ripper and how he was able to get around Whitechapel unseen and that made her theory plausible. If you love Sherlock and have always wanted him to take on Jack the Ripper, this one is for you. I highly recommend it. less
