review 1: HC convinced me to move on to this one with her review, so here we go.Okay, I'm going to give this a 3.5 stars. It strayed from the usual premise of the last three books, that of the MC's running for their lives while they have sex and the chekota breeder get's knocked up. In this case, they are running from other Alphas that want to knock Trey up. Trey was also the first shifter "breeder" and that also made for a difference from the others, so his reactions to being "activated" were different as well. There still wasn't a whole lot of getting-to-know-you going on, though there was a little antagonism between the MC's to start their relationship. The "opposites attract" premise was a little weak, as I don't think they actually were. It was more like, "I was hot for y... moreou, but you shot me down and made me feel stupid" was going on from Trey. So still a little weak in the storyline, but enough to make it different from the same old, same old. What I did like, was that Trey wasn't the classic, beautiful twink. He was attractive, but even Justin admitted that there were other, more attractive options. Still he felt the pull of chemistry between himself and Trey and followed it. I thought more could be made of Trey's gift and his background, it was whitewashed over rather quickly. And Justin's background was nearly non-existent. Of course, now that I've gone through some of my laundry lists over this book, I think I've changed my mind and put it at just the three stars. Mainly because it's a solid, nice read, but there's no real depth to the characters and in the end, nothing spectacular happens between them. I'll move onto the next though, as the fluff factor is nice and as always, I love mpreg and the MC pairing of alpha male and smaller, more submissive partner.
review 2: THis......... This is the best of this series to date. I felt minimal to almost none of the previous book storyline smoothness issues. I didn't feel like Justin was .. less .. because of mating scent cabobble (where do I REMEMBER words like this! btw had to look it up to make sure I didn't MAKE it up lol) Plus Justin's integrity is really shown, considering the torture of being around a mating heat breeder. He wants Trey to WANT to be with him and not force him. And Trey.. nice to see he's not just a small shy panther seemingly easily overlooked. There's some meat to them bones. More than meets the eye when you get some background on him.The disjointedness of a shifter breeder vs a human breeder was my main issue in this book. I would think no matter shifter or human the rules are the same regardless. Plus if the humans had the same heat, I think it would have made their stories hotter and more explosive. less
