review 1: I find Maron's Knott mysteries somewhat hit or miss, depending on the mystery (I almost always enjoy the complicated family dynamics) but this one was definitely a keeper. In addition the present time murder, Deborah and Dwight end up investigating the possible murder of her father's younger brotherssome 60 + years ago that was initially thought to be an accident. The way the two murders interplayed was interesting and well done and it was fun to hear more about her dad's early life growing up. Definitely recommended.
review 2: 2 1/2 -3 stars. Designated Daughters is a advocacy program so people without "people" have help as they get older and need someone to make sure their rights and valuables are being considered and are safe. In most cases, a relative, usu
... moreally a daughter does this task, but it can be a male. In this book, Aunt Rachael is murdered while in hospice care. Deborah acts on her behalf trying to solve this murder. The problem is that their are lots of family members and friends that saw her last. The book was a little too wordy but easy to read. The list of characters is long. Glad there was a family tree key to follow along! less

Not one of Maron's best. Too many family members to keep straight and a slow boring story.
