review 1: I liked this book from the very first page. Normally I don't like books written in first person, but this one was different. Maybe because the story was told through the eyes of a teenage girl. A girl surrounded by untold secrets which led to lots of pain in her life. Her mother, who should have loved her unconditionally would tell her time and time again how much she hates her, and wishes she was never born. Her older sister, who took clues from her mother, showed no love for the sister, and when the opportunity came was even cruel.Apart from that, the world outside her home, was filled with domestic violence, mental illness, animal cruelty and murder. So the only real love she knew was from the father. He was simply an angel in this cruel world. The only escape she had was ... morethrough her flying.I loved her journey. It was great to see the secrets come to open, and finally lead to a nice, maybe not ideal, but nice life for her.
review 2: I really enjoyed this book. The characters were great and the whole thing was so simple and heartfelt. I empathised with everyone and worried along with them. Gwenni is a brilliant narrator, her mind works in such fascinating ways and it's wonderful to see the world through her eyes. The only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is because I feel no desire to read it again and I usually do. But I thoroughly enjoyed it as I was reading it. It was a pleasure. less
