review 1: I can truly appreciate Ms. Bostwick so aptly depicting a woman escaping an abusive relationship. I felt Ivy accurately represented an abused woman, though as with any group, each individual and her specific circumstances is unique. I was grateful for her emphasis on the psychological aspect of abuse that is so powerful to keep women in manipulative abusive relationships. Though there was a bit of a disclaimer within the first 20 pages or so regarding Margot's intense religiosity and the fact that it didn't prevent her from being good material as a really good friend, there was too much religion/Christianity in this book for my liking, as if that is the ONLY way to be spiritually positive and uplifted, when there are other viable options available. And now supposedly all th... moree women are "believers." But, I enjoyed this one more than the first book, A Single Thread. That's encouraging--on to the third one!
review 2: I found the characters interesting and Bostwick keeps the story flowing but unrealistic for dealing with women in crisis unless they just happen to meet a woman with more money than she knows what to do with and decides to give you a job, a house to live in and pay your lawyer bills so you can get away from the abusing husband. Also, there was an element of "taking it to god" that was unnecessary and felt manipulative where is was "stuck-in." less
