review 1: In this prelude to Kickass 2, Mark Millar is brilliant as ever, a lot of amazing dialogues and wittily written protagonists. So it is clever, funny and edgy. But good luck with recognizing the protagonist: John Romita draws her sort of bulky, with the massive head and stunted limbs... She doesn't look very realistic to me. Also, the sight of a 12-year-old girl dispatching goons with such gleeful sadism (“I've got all the time in the world to finish you off, but what would be the coolest way to do do it?”) can't help but leave a bad taste in your mouth.
review 2: Kick- Ass volume one was amazing and likewise I was assuming Kick-Ass 2 Prelude: Hit- Girl would be equally as amazing. I am sad to say I was very disappointed. The main purpose of this volume was ... moreto be a filler that was not needed. When I was reading it all I could think was where is this going? why do we need this. Now, don't get me wrong. I still enjoyed the characters throughout the graphic novel and their sense of humor. But the whole comic just didn't seem to fit into the world of Kick-Ass that we have grown to love throughout the first volume. One thing that continued to bother me throughout was Hit- Girl's behavoir. Now I know, she's supposed to be living a normal life now that she is in a different situation but the things that they make Hit-Girl care about are things that seem so out of character for her. She's ten years old, but she's such a bad-ass it wouldn't matter to her if the popular girls in school were not her friends. I think that while I still enjoyed Kick- Ass 2 Prelude: Hit- Girl there was something missing from it that Kick- Ass Volume One had. I had been looking forward to this graphic novel after reading Volume One and even though I still enjoyed this volume, I was disappointed in it. less
