review 1: This must the the first book I have rated so low - after the time I became a conscious fan (one who has heard all the shit hurled at being his fan) of Mark Millar and decided to dig out all his works. This book is an ode to a comic lover.I could have waxed eloquently on this for pages but the moot point is why the 2 star ???The story ....That's whyThere's nothing to this story except a revisited Last Action Hero merged with Marvel Comics. The plot promises some spark in the history of the protagonist's equally loser comic loving father but the story almost hurtles to an end - disappointing anyone. The whoaaaaaah moments which Mark Millar is well known for all there though :) Surely worth a read.
review 2: A quite interesting story told from the point of view of
... more a normal comic reader. Good artwork too. Mark Millar tells a tale about a kid named who lived a normal youngster where heroes and villains only exist in comic books. Eventually, things change, and they changed for the worst. Think of it Toby's world as our world, where everything just seems normal and uneventful. Who would expect to see Red Skull on a world like that? Right?Toby struggles in making his friends and families believe that somehow the villains from the comic books came to life and is wreaking havoc on their little town, until it was pretty obvious to the townsmen aswell. It was upto to Toby and his father to save their town... less
