review 1: This book despite some unsubstantiated hype nevertheless made several interesting points. Naturally companies are going to use everything they can to get us hooked on their products and make us buy more of them. Who wouldn't? It's called free enterprise, it's the heart of capitalism and is after all how businesses make money. But I did appreciate being made aware of how I am manipulated, first to get into stores, then to buy the stuff, and finally, to pledge loyalties to my favorite brands and make friends and relatives aware of them. Particularly the sections on Facebook and online presence made lots of sense and left me wanting to reduce my digital footprint.
review 2: WHAT A READ. So shocking, and yet things made so much more sense to me now. Like how the he
... morell the ads on Facebook suddenly show me hotels in Hawaii (I was looking for flights to Hawaii before I went onto FB), why everywhere I go, it's music from my childhood (ie. 80s & 90s pop), and most of all, how I am totally and utterly brandwashed, despite my belief that I am exempt from this. -.-" Now I know. less

Reasonably insightful, decent introduction to the subject for the uninitiated.
