review 1: Martin kind storm certainly knows his marketing principles and terminology, but outside of a few nuggets of interesting facts, this book does not deliver much. He comes across as narcissistic, repeats himself, over-explains his points, and never really divulges any hard facts. Consistently he mentions his "studies" with fmri, but his results usually look like "most of the participants" or "nearly all participants" instead of giving any real figures. His methodology is shaky, and he tends to lean more on 3rd party research than his own.
review 2: A rather confusing book which is all over the place with various anecdotes and rather questionable conclusions derived from data - fMRI might be able to objectively report which areas of the brain light up, but why they
... more light up is the important question and this book isn't convincing there. This isn't to say there is nothing interesting this book - it is very well written (to the point where one can wonder why Peter Smith was merely mentioned in the acknowledgements and not on the cover) and gives many interesting titbits of information but they don't build up to a book that will make you see the world around you in a different way. It doesn't help that the book already feels dated after just a few years of publishing. This is something like a coffee table book of marketing; it might be a small paperback with no photographs but otherwise qualifies in being both easy to read and easy to forget. It also suffers from repeatedly reassuring the reader that the book is written for an American audience - a trend I've noticed amongst European authors writing books for the US market. There isn't anything wrong in writing for your target audience but it comes across as condescending here. less

Eh. Lots of examples and research, but often not actionable in a practical way
